Today is the 25th anniversary of the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Fire

The first alarm came in at 6:13 pm. The abandoned building, located at 266 Franklin Street in Worcester Massachusetts, was six stories with a basement and had no windows above the first floor. The walls and ceilings were covered in cork, tar and foam for insulation. Each floor was a maze of connecting meat lockers which were unfamiliar to the firefighters. The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Western Henry County

Areas included are Pendleton, Sulphur and Campbellsburg. This is a radar indicated threat. If you are in these areas, TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows.
