Today is the 25th anniversary of the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Fire

The first alarm came in at 6:13 pm. The abandoned building, located at 266 Franklin Street in Worcester Massachusetts, was six stories with a basement and had no windows above the first floor. The walls and ceilings were covered in cork, tar and foam for insulation. Each floor was a maze of connecting meat lockers which were unfamiliar to the firefighters.
