The KY Division of Forestry designates October 1st through December 15th as the Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season. During this time State Law prohibits open burning within 150 feet of woodland or brush land between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. This is also true for the Spring Forest Fire Hazard Season which runs from February 15th through April 30th.
Anytime you are burning please take precautions to prevent fire spread by having a non-combustible area cleared around the fire. You should have a garden hose or fire extinguisher present. It is also a good idea to postpone burning during extreme dry conditions.
